Minas Gerais promotes artisanal cheese workshops and state competition

Artisanal cheese production in Minas Gerais is receiving significant attention through both educational initiatives and competitive recognition. In Patos de Minas, Sebrae Minas is hosting a free workshop titled ‘Oficina Queijo Minas Artesanal’ as part of the Prepara Gastronomia program. The event aims to help food service entrepreneurs and restaurant employees integrate artisanal cheeses into their menus, focusing on the gastronomic identity of the region.

Simultaneously, the 19th State Artisanal Cheese Contest of Minas Gerais is entering its final stages in Diamantina. The upcoming judging phase will evaluate 148 artisanal cheeses across six distinct categories. New additions to the competition include a long-maturation category for Queijo Minas Artesanal and specific categories for heated-mass artisanal cheeses from the Alagoa, Mantiqueira de Minas, and Vale do Suaçuí regions.
