Minas Gerais prosecutors investigate improper dam siren activation

The Public Ministry of Minas Gerais has launched a civil inquiry to investigate the improper activation of alert sirens belonging to Anglo American’s Minas-Rio system. The incident occurred on the night of Thursday, the 13th, near the São José do Jassém community in the rural areas of Conceição do Mato Dentro and Serro.

The siren activation caused significant fear among local residents within the alert zone. According to reports, residents evacuated their homes and utilized designated escape routes to reach emergency meeting points established during previous training sessions.
