Minas Gerais Public Fund Allocates 10 Million Reais for Flood Recovery in Juiz de Fora

The Special Fund of the Minas Gerais Public Prosecutor's Office (Funemp) approved approximately 10 million reais for two initiatives that will aid Juiz de Fora and other municipalities in the state. One program, "Reconstruindo Lares," is led by the Juiz de Fora city hall and targets reconstruction and repairs of homes damaged by the severe February rains, allowing affected families to return safely.

The second approved project, "Conselhos em Destaque: Fomentar para Transformar," aims to strengthen Municipal Human Rights Councils and civil‑society organizations through diagnostics, training, material production, network support, and best‑practice promotion, thereby improving public‑policy implementation. The Funemp coordinating group also resolved procedural issues for additional pending proposals, ensuring their continued progress.

In total, the fund released about 10 million reais to support reconstruction, community capacity‑building, and ongoing public‑policy initiatives across Minas Gerais.
