Minas Gerais records record Encceja PPL enrollment

The 2026 Encceja PPL, a national exam for certifying the skills of incarcerated youth and adults, reached a historic milestone in Minas Gerais with 16,185 applicants. Coordinated by Inep in partnership with state education secretariats, the exam provides diplomas for elementary and high school education.

In 2026, testing was conducted across 149 prison units managed by the Minas Gerais Penitentiary Department (Depen-MG), as well as 18 socio-educational units for adolescents. For the first time, some units implemented preparatory classes covering languages, mathematics, natural sciences, human sciences, and essay writing to support participants.

Data shows a significant upward trend in academic success within the program. The approval rate rose from 17.20% in the 2020/21 period to 30.85% in 2025. In 2025, 21.73% of applicants earned high school certification and 16.67% earned elementary school certification.
