Minas Gerais announces service and traffic changes for holiday

The state of Minas Gerais is implementing several service and traffic changes due to the Nossa Senhora Aparecida national holiday on October 12, 2026.

Public services including UAIs, Ipsemg, Hemominas, and Farmácia de Minas will suspend in-person services on Monday, October 12, with most resuming normal operations on Tuesday, October 13. State public schools will be closed from Monday through Friday, October 16. Most cultural sites, such as the State Public Library and various museums, will also be closed on the holiday, though the Palácio da Liberdade will remain open.

Additionally, the Department of Roads of Minas Gerais (DER-MG) will restrict the circulation of large vehicles on state highways to improve safety and traffic flow. These restrictions apply to vehicles exceeding specific weight and dimension limits, including bitrens and rodotrens. The restrictions will be active on Friday (Oct 9) from 4 PM to 10 PM, Saturday (Oct 10) from 6 AM to 12 PM, and Monday (Oct 12) from 4 PM to 10 PM, specifically targeting high-traffic routes like MG-010, MGC-135, and MG-050.
