Minas Gerais reports swine price drop and infrastructure investments

Economic and social developments in Minas Gerais show a mix of sector challenges and infrastructure investments. The swine industry is facing significant pressure due to an excess of supply, which has caused prices to drop 32% to R$ 5.80 per kilogram, a level below the estimated production cost of R$ 6.00.

In the logistics sector, Porto Seco Sul de Minas is investing R$ 70 million to expand its structure, aiming to increase coffee storage capacity from 600,000 to up to 2 million bags to support exports.

In urban management, the water utility Codau has suspended service for over 24,000 customers in Uberaba due to non-payment. Meanwhile, in Juiz de Fora, regional healthcare faces challenges regarding hospital infrastructure and the need for continued state funding for the new Hospital de Pronto Socorro (HPS).
