Minas Gerais updates remote work criteria for state employees

The Minas Gerais State Secretariat of Planning and Management (Seplag-MG) has published Resolution No. 79/2026, updating the criteria for exceptional full-time remote work authorization for state public administration employees.

The new regulations aim to clarify analysis procedures and workflows for government agencies. Key updates include specific provisions for employees with disabilities recognized by official medical expertise, allowing remote work to protect health and safety or improve accessibility.

Additionally, the resolution expands criteria for employees residing more than 100 kilometers from their workplace due to a spouse or partner who is also a public servant, now including those working for any branch of the Minas Gerais state government or other federative entities.

For legal guardians of persons with disabilities, the requirement for specialized treatment is waived, requiring instead a professional report demonstrating the need for assistance. The rules also adjust temporary family health care provisions, removing the need to prove relocation to another municipality, provided the care required prevents in-person attendance.
