Minas hosts 11th Diversity March to advocate for LGBTIQ+ rights

The city of Minas, Uruguay, held its 11th Diversity March on Saturday, October 24, under the slogan ‘Vivir con dignidad, existir con orgullo’ (Live with dignity, exist with pride). The event brought together organizations, institutions, and citizens to celebrate legislative progress and demand the effective implementation of rights for the LGBTIQ+ community.

The mobilization, organized by the Departmental Council of Sexual Diversity, began at the intersection of Luis Alberto de Herrera Avenue and 18 de Julio street. The march concluded at Plaza Libertad, where participants engaged in artistic performances, a local entrepreneurship fair, and health services.

A formal proclamation was read by Agustín Moreira, Iván Bitancurt, and Noelia Sejas, emphasizing the need for non-discriminatory access to education, healthcare, and employment. The organizers also highlighted recent local milestones, including the declaration of the ‘Month of Diversity’ as a matter of departmental interest and the establishment of the Departmental Council of Sexual Diversity.
