Minato City investigates potential mass food poisoning at Azabu-juban festival

Authorities in Minato City are investigating a potential mass food poisoning incident following the Azabu-juban Noryo Matsuri held on August 22 and 23. As of August 28, the Minato City Health Center has received reports from 76 individuals complaining of symptoms including diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever.

Many of those affected reported consuming ‘hiyashi kani ramen’ (chilled crab ramen) at the festival. The health center has conducted on-site inspections of vendors and is requesting stool samples from symptomatic individuals to identify the cause. The Mayor of Minato City has issued a statement wishing for the recovery of those affected and pledged to continue the investigation.

Social media reports have linked the illness to a crab ramen stall operated by the creator Komeo. Some users raised concerns regarding food handling, noting that the vendor had previously mentioned having 700 leftover servings from a cancelled event on August 22.
