MIND ID targets increased state revenue through mineral downstreaming
MIND ID, Indonesia’s mining industry holding company, is focusing on optimizing state revenue through enhanced production, mineral downstreaming, and integrated industrial ecosystems. According to the 2025 sustainability report, the group generated an economic value of Rp185.16 trillion and distributed Rp180.30 trillion, with total payments to the government—including taxes, dividends, and other obligations—reaching approximately Rp32.82 trillion.
During a hearing with Commission XII of the DPR RI, MIND ID CEO Maroef Sjamsoeddin emphasized that managing natural resources through state-owned entities is the most effective way to maximize national benefits. This strategy involves transforming raw minerals into high-value products, such as processing bauxite into alumina and aluminum, to drive domestic economic growth and technological transfer.
However, some members of the DPR RI have raised concerns regarding the dominance of the private sector in resource management. Legislator Yulian Gunhar noted that the implementation of the state's mandate under Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution remains a challenge, suggesting that private entities still capture significant profits. Additionally, Commission XII member Dewi Yustisiana highlighted that successful downstreaming requires significant investment in human resources and technological mastery to ensure global competitiveness.
