Mind Robotics appoints Doug Field as president
Mind Robotics, a startup founded by Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe, has appointed Doug Field as its president. The company, which has raised over $1 billion in financing, focuses on developing industrial AI and robotics systems designed for dexterity and physical reasoning.
Field brings extensive experience in electric vehicles and software architecture, having previously held leadership roles at Ford, Tesla, and Apple. At Apple, he was a key figure in the Project Titan autonomous vehicle effort. At Tesla, he helped oversee the development of the Model 3.
In his new role, Field will oversee the scaling of robots intended for use in Rivian’s factories and other industrial applications. Unlike some competitors pursuing humanoid forms, Mind Robotics is focusing on a full-stack approach for manufacturing that avoids human-like biomechanics in favor of scalable, repeatable industrial processes.
