Mindler investigation leads to 26.5 million SEK reimbursement to Swedish regions

Swedish regions are recovering nearly 26.5 million SEK following an investigation into the digital healthcare provider Mindler. The investigation revealed irregularities in how digital care was billed and documented.

In the Västra Götaland Region, audits found standardized texts appearing across numerous medical records and identified a single practitioner with an unusually high production rate, leading to police reports and claims for reimbursement. In Kalmar County, approximately 653,225 SEK is being reclaimed following the identification of roughly 1,500 chat sessions that were deemed not to constitute qualified medical care.

The situation has prompted calls for better oversight and integration of digital health solutions into the broader healthcare system to ensure that reimbursement models do not prioritize high volumes of simple contacts over comprehensive patient needs.
