Minebea Intec and Rohde & Schwarz unveil advanced packaging inspection scanners

Minebea Intec introduced a portfolio of side‑shooter X‑ray inspection systems that image high, densely packed containers from the side rather than from the top. By shortening the effective material thickness in the beam direction, the systems eliminate blind spots and reliably detect foreign objects such as glass, metal, stone or dense plastics inside complex packaging. The lineup – including models like Dymond S, Dymond DSV, Dymond D and Dylight S – delivers real‑time image processing at production speeds, supporting a range of package types from small portion packs to glass bottles.

Rohde & Schwarz launched the R&S IMAGER, a millimeter‑wave scanner that penetrates common packaging materials without ionising radiation. It creates high‑contrast three‑dimensional images that serve as digital twins and can be analysed by AI‑driven fault‑detection algorithms. The technology is suited to pharmaceutical, logistics and food‑and‑beverage applications, enabling detection of hidden components, missing parts, sealing defects or damage while maintaining product safety and supporting sustainable packaging.

Both technologies aim to enhance inline quality control, reduce recalls and waste, and improve safety for operators by providing non‑intrusive, high‑speed inspection of sealed products.
