Minecraft native Nintendo Switch 2 version reportedly arriving October 27

Reports indicate that a native version of Minecraft for the Nintendo Switch 2 is scheduled for release on October 27. The release is expected to include the ‘Vibrant Visuals’ graphical update, which enhances lighting, shadows, and visual effects, alongside a ‘Super Mario Mash-Up’ pack featuring 15 Mario-themed music tracks and 40 character skins.

According to reports, owners of the digital version on the original Nintendo Switch will be eligible for a free upgrade, but this offer is reportedly limited to those who claim it by the end of January 2027. In contrast, players who own the physical cartridge version will likely need to purchase the new edition at full price, estimated at $29.99 in the United States.

While Mojang and Nintendo have not yet issued an official announcement, the release coincides with Mojang’s upcoming content roadmap, which includes the ‘Ice Caves’ biome later this year and ‘The Sift’—the first new dimension in 14 years—planned for 2027.
