Minecraft opens pre-orders and digital upgrades for Nintendo Switch 2

Mojang has opened pre-orders for Minecraft on the Nintendo Switch 2. The physical version is scheduled for release on October 27, 2026, followed by the digital version on October 28, 2026.

Existing owners of the digital version of Minecraft on the original Nintendo Switch can pre-order the digital Standard Edition for the Switch 2 for free in most regions until the end of January 2027. However, this free upgrade does not apply to users in Japan and Taiwan, where small fees of 100 JPY and 30 NTD respectively will apply.

Players may also opt for discounted upgrades to the Deluxe Collection or Ultimate Collection. All Switch 2 editions will include the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack and support the Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade, which features enhanced lighting and shadow effects. The Switch 2 version will also support mods.
