Minecraft surpasses 425 million copies sold

During the ‘Minecraft LIVE’ event, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma announced that Minecraft has surpassed 425 million copies sold. Despite being over 17 years old, the game continues to attract significant growth, with an average of more than 300,000 new players joining every day.

In a major update, a new dimension titled ‘The Sift’ was revealed, marking the first new dimension added to the game in over 14 years. ‘The Sift’ is scheduled for implementation in both the Java and Bedrock editions in 2027. Players will be able to explore this new dimension earlier through the release of ‘Minecraft Dungeons II’ on September 29.

The massive sales figures have drawn comparisons to other major titles like ‘Grand Theft Auto V’, which has sold over 230 million copies. However, users have noted the differences in target demographics and age ratings between the two franchises.
