Minecraft update introduces Brittle Ice and Jukebox playlists

Mojang has released the latest Java snapshot and Bedrock preview builds for Minecraft update 26.4, introducing new mechanics to the Ice Caves biome. A central addition is the ‘Brittle Ice’ block, a fragile material that cracks when players or mobs stand on it. The cracking process takes 1.2 seconds per stage, and after three stages, the block breaks completely. This mechanic can be used to create traps by covering the ice with carpets or snow layers. Unlike Frosted Ice, Brittle Ice does not melt near light sources and leaves no water behind when broken. It can be harvested using a Silk Touch pickaxe.

Additionally, the update introduces a playlist function for Jukeboxes. By placing a chest filled with music discs on top of a Jukebox, the game will automatically play the discs in the order they are laid out, swapping them once a track finishes.
