Minera El Abra completes 103 heritage and environmental projects

Minera El Abra's Patrimonial and Environmental Fund has completed 103 projects over the last eight years, supporting cultural heritage, environmental care, and local development in Chile.

The program's fifth iteration funded 21 new projects. Notable initiatives include the implementation of the first organic waste treatment plant in Tocopilla by the NGO Alquimia Changa. In Calama, the Lay Lay Indigenous Association of Irrigators and Farmers executed an educational project focused on Lickanantay worldview, including ethnoastronomy and the Kunza language.

Additionally, the Natural and Cultural History Museum of the Atacama Desert conducted bioarchaeological research on pre-Hispanic funerary bundles using non-invasive technologies to study ancient populations of the Atacama Desert.
