Mineral Expo showcases rare Maramureș crystals in Iași

The Mineral Expo is being held in Iași, featuring a wide array of precious and semi-precious stones, rare minerals, and unique jewelry. A primary attraction of this edition is a collection of stibine (antimony sulfide) sourced from the Maramureș mining region, specifically from historical sites such as Baia Sprie, Cavnic, Herja, and Băiuț.

Organizer Costel Covaci noted that the stibine collection includes a significant piece extracted between 1976 and 1978. In addition to rare minerals, exhibitors are presenting various jewelry items, with prices ranging from 10 lei to several thousand euros. Other featured minerals include fluorine, amethyst, rose quartz, and citrine.
