Minerals Commission commissions new eight-storey office in Ashanti Region
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has commissioned an eight-storey, ultramodern office complex for the Minerals Commission in the Ashanti Region. The facility, located in Kumasi, is part of a government initiative to decentralize the Commission’s operations, which were previously centralized in Accra.
Deputy Minister Dr. Alhaji Yussif Sulemana stated that the new office aims to improve operational efficiency, enhance the regulation of Ghana’s mineral resources, and provide better services to investors and mining companies. Decentralization is expected to improve supervision and help curb illegal mining activities.
During the ceremony, the government reaffirmed its commitment to mineral value addition. Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah emphasized the need to transition from an economy that primarily extracts and exports raw minerals to one that stimulates industrialization, infrastructure development, and local job creation through processed mineral exports.
