Mineração Rio do Norte receives Chinese reactors for Pará power project

Mineração Rio do Norte (MRN), a leading bauxite producer in Brazil, has received four shunt reactors from China to support the construction of a 98-kilometer transmission line in Oriximiná, Pará. The equipment will be installed at the Saracá Substation to regulate voltage and stabilize the electrical system connecting the company’s Porto Trombetas operations to the National Interconnected System (SIN).

The Transmission Line Project (PLT) is expected to reduce the company’s greenhouse gas emissions associated with energy generation by approximately 90%. The infrastructure includes significant engineering feats, such as two towers standing 178 meters tall, which are among the largest of their kind built in Brazil. This project is intended to strengthen energy security and support the company’s long-term strategic planning, including the Novas Minas Project (PNM).
