Minerva Klaudel Frías Ogando elected as Dominican Republic deputy

The Dominican Republic Chamber of Deputies has unanimously elected Minerva Klaudel Frías Ogando to fill the seat vacated by her late father, Jorge Frías, who passed away on August 7. The selection followed a formal request from the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), which submitted a three-person shortlist including Frías Ogando, Alexander Santana, and Eladio Rodríguez.

Following her election, Frías Ogando was sworn into office. In her inaugural address, she expressed gratitude to President Luis Abinader and the PRM leadership, pledging to continue her father's legacy and serve the municipality of Santo Domingo Este. The appointment brings the total number of deputies in the Chamber back to the constitutionally mandated 190, consisting of 73 women and 117 men.
