Minha Melhor Amiga breaks Brazilian opening records

The Brazilian comedy ‘Minha Melhor Amiga’, directed by Susana Garcia and starring Ingrid Guimarães and Mônica Martelli, has reached nearly 1 million spectators within its first week of release. During the cinema week of September 3 to 9, the film earned R$ 21.6 million and drew 940,000 viewers.

The film set a historical record for the largest opening of a national feature in Brazil, screening in 1,531 rooms across 773 cinemas in 436 cities. This surpasses the previous record held by ‘Minha Mãe é uma Peça 3’.

While ‘Spider-Man: A New Day’ (Sony) maintained strong performance during the weekend, ‘Minha Melhor Amiga’ extended its lead during weekdays and the September 7 holiday. Other notable films in circulation include ‘The Odyssey’ by Christopher Nolan and ‘Toy Story 5’.
