MINI enhances vehicle safety with advanced sensor technology

MINI is enhancing its safety standards through significant investments in accident prevention and passenger protection. The brand’s current generation of vehicles has achieved five-star ratings in Euro NCAP testing.

To support these safety goals, modern MINI models utilize a suite of hardware including up to 12 ultrasonic sensors, five cameras, and five radars. Standard equipment features include Lane Departure Warning with steering intervention, Front Collision Warning with emergency braking, and recognition of pedestrians and cyclists. The Driving Assistant package adds Blind Spot Detection, Safe Exit, Rear Collision Warning, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Advanced Pre-Crash functions use sensor data to prepare the cabin before a potential impact by automatically closing windows and sunroofs and adjusting seat bolsters. For models such as the MINI Cooper, Aceman, and Countryman, optional Driving Assistant Plus provides steering and lane control, adaptive cruise control, and speed limit assistance. The Countryman specifically offers a Professional version with active lane guiding. Additionally, parking assistance features include maneuvering assistants and reversing assistance.
