Mini Hornbill Festival 2026 begins in Peren

The Chega Gaadi/Lamsim Ngyi-cum-Mini Hornbill Festival 2026 commenced on October 29 at Beikingpuichak, the district headquarters of Peren. Deputy Commissioner Hiazu Meru attended the inaugural day as the special guest.

During his address, Meru emphasized that the festival is a government program and encouraged government employees to view their participation as part of their official duties. He noted that such festivals serve as vital platforms for showcasing cultural diversity, traditions, and values, which are essential for safeguarding community identity and preserving heritage for future generations.

Meru also highlighted the role of social media in promoting local events to reach wider audiences. Furthermore, he called for increased unity among the citizens of Peren, urging residents to prioritize the collective interests of the district over individual, clan, or village interests to foster regional progress.
