Minimalism dominates modern design in automotive and architectural trends
Modern design is shifting toward minimalism, characterized by a move away from traditional logos in automotive branding and a reduction of color in architecture and consumer products.
In the automotive industry, manufacturers are increasingly replacing classic three-dimensional emblems with large, integrated brand names. This trend, seen in models like the Skoda Elrok, treats typography as a core design element alongside body lines and lighting. While brands like Porsche and Volvo have utilized large lettering for years, more manufacturers are adopting this approach to create cleaner surfaces and accommodate modern technological requirements like sensors and cameras.
Simultaneously, a trend toward neutral palettes is dominating architecture and product design. Pantone has named ‘Cloud Dancer’, a soft white shade, as the color of 2026, reflecting a broader cultural preference for simplicity and visual cleanliness. Research by the Science Museum Group, which analyzed over 7,000 historical objects, suggests that everyday items have become progressively grayer and geometrically simpler over the last two centuries.
