Minimalist and industrial designs drive modern home trends
Modern consumers are increasingly prioritizing functionality and efficiency in home design. According to the IKEA Life at Home Report 2024, conducted with YouGov across 39 countries, home environments are being viewed through the lens of comfort, well-being, and identity expression.
Research indicates that approximately one-third of respondents find that tidy and clean spaces contribute to their well-being, while 57% of those who can express their identity at home report higher levels of enjoyment. This shift has led to a rise in minimalist furniture, which emphasizes simple forms and efficient space utilization without sacrificing utility.
In addition to minimalism, industrial design remains a popular low-budget option for modern living. This style, inspired by factory and warehouse structures, utilizes exposed materials such as concrete, brick, and iron frames. Popular applications include using roster walls for privacy, container-style steel structures, and monochrome concrete aesthetics to achieve a modern look with minimal decoration.
