Minimalist fashion trends gain momentum in industry
The fashion industry is increasingly embracing minimalist concepts, focusing on curated collections and functional design rather than short-lived trends. This shift is evident in recent runway presentations and the growing popularity of the capsule wardrobe concept.
During New York Fashion Week, the brand COS presented its autumn/winter collection, characterized by relaxed proportions, precise tailoring, and a palette of black, navy, grey, and neutral tones. Design Director Karin Gustafsson noted that while the final looks appear simple, many creations involve complex underlying work.
Similarly, Jil Sander’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, led by Creative Director Simone Bellotti, utilized a restrained color scheme of black, white, and grey, accented by occasional sculptural pieces. This trend toward reduction and focused aesthetics is also influencing everyday wardrobe choices through functional capsule concepts.
