Italy–Latin America SME Forum highlights Argentine mining and energy potential

The 10th Italy–Latin America SME Forum, held in Buenos Aires, brought together over 500 industrial leaders and representatives to foster international cooperation and business opportunities.

Argentine provincial governors used the platform to promote regional resources. Governors from San Juan, Jujuy, and Catamarca participated in a panel regarding critical minerals, emphasizing the strategic importance of copper and lithium for the global energy transition. San Juan highlighted its role in the global paradigm shift, while Jujuy and Catamarca focused on creating legal security and conditions to attract new mining investments.

In Río Negro, Governor Alberto Weretilneck advocated for local SMEs to be integrated into the energy development process, particularly regarding large-scale export projects. Meanwhile, Neuquén Governor Rolando Figueroa addressed the industrial nature of the Vaca Muerta formation, noting that its development requires a synchronized ecosystem of technology and infrastructure rather than just natural resources.
