Mining companies launch community support initiatives in Guinea and Côte d'Ivoire
Mining companies in West Africa are implementing community support initiatives focused on education and vocational training.
In Boffa, Guinea, Chalco Guinea Company S.A. distributed school kits, including bags, notebooks, and writing utensils, to students in the urban commune and surrounding sub-prefectures. The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on families and support local educational efforts. Local authorities and educational officials noted the importance of such partnerships in improving learning conditions.
In Séguéla, Côte d'Ivoire, the mining company Roxgold Sango is financing a two-month heavy machinery operation training program for 35 youths from villages impacted by mining activities. Conducted by the African Mining School, the program is designed to enhance employability and provide participants with professional certificates to facilitate entry into the mining sector and other industries.
