Mining companies expand operations and capacity in Ecuador and Mexico

Several mining companies are advancing operations and expansion projects in Latin America. In Ecuador, Lundin Gold announced plans to increase the processing capacity of its Fruta del Norte mine from 5,500 to 7,000 tonnes per day within a year. This expansion aims to maintain annual gold production between 475,000 and 525,000 ounces as ore grades gradually decline. The company has also allocated USD 85 million for exploration in 2026.

In Mexico, Endeavour Silver Corp. has resumed production at its Terronera silver and gold mine in Jalisco following the lifting of a community blockade. The company reached an agreement through dialogue with local community representatives to restore operational stability.

Additionally, GoGold Resources Inc. has commenced construction of the Los Ricos South silver and gold mine in Jalisco, Mexico. The project is fully financed, with the company reporting a liquidity position of USD 284 million. The first gold and silver pour is projected for June 2028.
