Mining company in Cuiabá caught stealing electricity

Authorities conducted ‘Operação Amanhecer’ in the rural zone of Cuiabá, resulting in the arrest of three individuals for electricity theft at a repeat-offender mining company. The operation was a joint effort involving Energisa Mato Grosso, the Civil Police, and forensic experts.

Technical monitoring revealed the company used a strategic pattern to bypass inspections by transferring its entire electrical load to a parallel network without a meter during weekends. This allowed heavy machinery to operate at full capacity without registering consumption.

During the raid, officials caught the diversion in progress. Three people were taken into custody: the mining company manager, a technician responsible for the illegal connections, and the wife of the owner, who was arrested at the owner's residence after police discovered a clandestine connection there as well.
