Mining developments in Salta and Río Negro provinces
In Salta, the Secretariat of Mining is developing a technological system to monitor mining projects in real time. Mining Secretary Gustavo Carrizo stated that the initiative, which involves a working agreement with the World Bank, aims to complement physical inspections with digital tools. The goal is to allow officials to access project data via a monitoring panel from their offices, reducing the sole reliance on manual on-site inspections.
In Río Negro, the provincial state company EDHIPSA has initiated administrative procedures for uranium exploration. The Secretariat of Mining published notifications in the Official Gazette regarding three areas totaling approximately 29,814 hectares in the San Antonio department, near Valcheta. These areas, named Los Gemelos, Cerro Chenque, and El Álamo, are part of a larger request for 80,000 hectares. The current stage is a legal requirement to inform landowners, and it does not yet authorize field work or drilling.
