Mining education initiatives mark milestones in Peru and Spain

Mining organizations in Peru and Spain are marking milestones in their efforts to educate students about the mining sector.

In Peru, Amautas Mineros is celebrating its 14th anniversary. The organization operates across more than 18 regions, utilizing a decentralized network of young volunteers to provide educational talks and learning spaces for primary and secondary school students. These initiatives focus on topics such as the role of women in mining, the industry's importance to national development, and the challenges of responsible and sustainable mining practices.

In Spain, the metallic mining association Aminer is entering its tenth year of distributing a specialized school agenda designed to teach primary and secondary students about the importance of mining in daily life and environmental conservation. The upcoming 2026/2027 edition will see a 33% increase in distribution, totaling 12,730 copies. The program has expanded to include versions in Catalan and Galician, supported by partners such as ICL Iberia and the Cámara Mineira de Galicia.
