Mining expansions announced by Volcan in Peru and Aisa Group in Argentina

Volcan Compañía Minera is advancing the development of the Romina project in Peru, which is projected to operate until 2038. The project involves an initial investment of US$115 million, supplemented by annual maintenance investments of between US$6 million and US$8 million. To optimize costs, Volcan will integrate Romina with the existing Alpamarca mining unit, utilizing a completed integration tunnel to transport ore to the concentrator plant in Junín. The company plans to expand Alpamarca’s processing capacity, with upgrades expected to be completed by February 2027.

In Argentina, the Gualcamayo mine is transitioning from a planned closure to a new productive phase under the control of Aisa Group. Through the Deep Carbonates (DCP) project, the company plans an investment of USD 665 million to develop a new underground mine. This project aims to produce an estimated 166,000 ounces of gold annually for at least 17 years. Exploration has identified resources of approximately 4.8 million ounces, with potential exports linked to the project estimated to reach USD 26.5 billion between 2030 and 2055.
