Mining firms adopt new HR platforms and upgrade lime handling systems

Mid-sized mining companies in Australia are turning to Workday's Workday GO platform to streamline human‑resources and payroll functions. Workday ANZ senior regional sales director Matt Lovell said the cloud‑based system has delivered a 25% cut in HR case volumes, an 18% reduction in time to fill roles and faster payroll and scheduling responses, helping firms manage rapid workforce mobilisation and compliance across multiple sites.

At the same time, miners are reassessing plant reliability, with Carmeuse Systems sales manager Zach Richardson warning that neglected lime handling and slaking equipment can halt production. He noted a shift toward investing in existing operations, urging companies to treat lime systems as core plant equipment to avoid safety risks, unplanned maintenance and downstream metal‑recovery losses.
