Mining sector sees growth as BHP and Anglo American report strong earnings

Major mining companies are reporting strong financial performance driven by robust commodity prices. BHP Group reported a significant increase in its adjusted EBITDA for the 2025/26 fiscal year, rising 27 percent to $32.9 billion. A key driver for BHP was its copper contribution, which grew by 48 percent to $18.2 billion.

Similarly, Anglo American has benefited from elevated market prices for industrial metals such as copper and nickel. In its 2026 half-year report, the company noted an increase in revenue compared to the same period in 2025, driven by higher production volumes of key raw materials and improved realized prices. The company also reported an increase in adjusted earnings per share, supported by efficiency improvements across several mining projects.
