Minions & Monsters animated film slated for worldwide release on July 1, 2026

Illumination and Universal Pictures have unveiled the final trailer for "Minions & Monsters," the latest prequel spin‑off in the Despicable Me franchise. Directed by series veteran Pierre Coffin, who also co‑wrote the screenplay with Brian Lynch, the film introduces new Minions James and Henry who travel to 1920s Hollywood. Their bid to become movie stars spirals into chaos as they lose everything, unleash a monster on the world, and then scramble to stop the disaster.

The voice cast features Allison Janney, two‑time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, Trey Parker, Bobby Moynihan and Phil LaMarr. The movie will debut at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June 2026 before opening in theaters worldwide on July 1, 2026. Local releases are scheduled for Germany, Italy and other markets, with the trailer already circulating in multiple languages.
