MINISFORUM announces S5 all-flash fanless NAS

MINISFORUM has announced the S5, a fanless 5-bay all-flash Network Attached Storage (NAS) system. Powered by an Intel Core 3 304 processor with five cores and speeds up to 4.3 GHz, the device is designed for high-speed storage, quiet operation, and low power consumption.

The S5 supports up to five M.2 NVMe SSDs, allowing for a total storage capacity of up to 40 TB. It features advanced connectivity, including one 10GbE port, one 2.5GbE LAN port, Wi-Fi, and dual USB4 ports capable of speeds up to 40 Gbps. By utilizing an all-flash architecture, the system can achieve sequential read speeds up to six times faster and random read speeds up to 100 times faster than traditional mechanical hard drives.

To ensure silent operation, the S5 employs a fanless passive cooling design using heat pipes and cooling fins. The device also incorporates an edge-cloud collaborative AI architecture, allowing for local Agent execution to support continuous intelligence and decision-making.
