Miniso hit by Guangzhou consumer complaint over disposable underwear

On August 5, a woman in Guangzhou’s Panyu district was walking with a colleague in a long skirt when she noticed a white strip of fabric at her feet. Upon inspection she discovered that her Miniso disposable underwear had disintegrated, leaving only the elastic band around her waist. The complainant, identified as Ms. Zeng, said she felt “embarrassed” and posted a video describing the incident. She had purchased a five‑pack of the product in Chengdu via a delivery platform, and reported that the underwear fell apart within about half an hour, turning into a “spider‑web”‑like shape.

Miniso responded that it was sorry for the inconvenience and embarrassment caused, and that it had launched an urgent investigation to verify the product’s condition and determine the cause. The episode triggered a heated discussion on Chinese social media, with users divided over the overall quality of Miniso’s low‑price goods.
