MiniStack open-source emulator replicates AWS APIs for local testing
MiniStack is an open-source emulator designed to replicate AWS APIs locally, allowing developers to test applications without relying on live cloud infrastructure. The tool supports over 60 AWS services through a single local endpoint, facilitating integration and verification within existing DevOps workflows using tools like the AWS CLI, Terraform, and Docker.
Unlike simple API mocks, MiniStack can launch actual software in Docker containers to provide more concrete testing. For example, it can run PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MariaDB to simulate Amazon RDS, and Redis to simulate Amazon ElastiCache. This allows developers to execute real SQL queries locally. The project also supports multi-account and multi-region configurations, enabling teams to isolate resources and configurations within shared testing environments.
