Cristiano Zanin seeks accountability after data leak in Dallagnol candidacy
Supreme Court Minister Cristiano Zanin has requested the Regional Electoral Court of Paraná (TRE-PR) to take legal action, including criminal accountability, following the exposure of his confidential fiscal and banking data. The information was attached to the Senate candidacy registration of former prosecutor Deltan Dallagnol.
The exposed documents include financial details regarding Zanin, his wife Valeska Zanin, and other family members. The data originated from a 2019 investigation by Operation Lava Jato, which had previously been annulled by the Supreme Court. Dallagnol's defense maintains that the documents were part of a confidential proceeding within the National Council of the Public Ministry (CNMP) and were included in full to transparently contest challenges to his candidacy, asserting there was no intent to expose private data.
The TRE-PR has since placed the documents under judicial secrecy and has given Dallagnol 24 hours to provide an explanation regarding the inclusion of the material. The case has also been referred to the Public Ministry for further investigation.
