Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury calls for domestic measures to prevent illegal migration

Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Foreign Employment, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, has called for domestic initiatives to prevent illegal migration. Speaking at a meeting in Sunamganj regarding safe migration, the minister emphasized that ensuring the protection of migrants must begin within the country through the coordinated efforts of the administration, political leaders, and guardians.

He highlighted the need to protect citizens from fraudulent middlemen and provide accurate information regarding safe migration processes, particularly in the Sylhet region. During the meeting, attendees suggested that increasing domestic employment opportunities and enhancing technical skills training are essential to reducing illegal overseas travel.

Separately, the minister's schedule underwent changes regarding an event for the Sylhet Development Authority (SDA). While originally listed as a special guest for the SDA office inauguration, his attendance was canceled. The minister stated the change was due to an urgent program in Dhaka and a scheduled meeting in Sunamganj, despite local political speculation regarding the decision.
