Minister Babalanda assesses PDM progress in Buyende District

Minister for the Presidency Babirye Milly Babalanda has conducted an assessment of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in Buyende District to monitor the program’s progress in transitioning households from subsistence livelihoods to the formal money economy.

During her visit to Iringa West Parish, Babalanda urged beneficiaries to use government funds for productive enterprises rather than immediate consumption or non-productive social obligations. She recommended specific backyard projects to generate income, such as poultry farming for egg production and piggery.

The Minister also emphasized the need for institutional accountability, tasking district technical officers and local leaders with providing beneficiaries through guidance, record-keeping, and market access. She noted that the government is prioritizing the eradication of corruption while pursuing poverty alleviation through these flagship initiatives.
