Minister calls for child protection in Pamulang school dispute

Arifah Fauzi, the Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, has called for children to be excluded from an ongoing asset and facility dispute involving TK Islam Pembangunan and SD Islam Pembangunan Yayasan Syarif Hidayatullah in Pamulang, Tangerang.

The Minister emphasized that the resolution of the conflict must prioritize the best interests of children, ensuring their rights to education and protection remain intact. Fauzi warned that conflict within educational environments can cause anxiety, fear, and disrupted concentration, potentially undermining a child's sense of security.

Under Indonesian law, specifically Law Number 23 of 2002 and its amendment Law Number 35 of 2014, children are guaranteed the right to education and protection from physical, psychological, and sexual violence within educational settings. The Ministry is urging all parties to ensure that teaching and learning activities continue without interruption and that schools remain safe spaces for children to grow and develop.
