Minister CR Patil calls for collective responsibility in cleanliness

Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil has called on citizens to adopt cleanliness as a collective responsibility and an integral part of their daily behavior. Speaking at a Special Gram Sabha in Majigam village, Navsari district, Gujarat, on the occasion of Swachh Bharat Diwas, Patil urged people to resolve not to litter and to prevent others from doing so.

During the event, the Minister felicitated sanitation workers and highlighted the impact of the Swachh Bharat Mission. He noted that the nationwide movement has transformed rural sanitation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, drawing parallels to Mahatma Gandhi’s emphasis on cleanliness alongside independence.

The assembly also addressed the achievements of Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026, the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026, and the Swachh Seva Aankalan, which is an annual digital self-assessment framework for Gram Panchayats. The meeting included various state and district officials, including Gujarat Minister Naresh Patel and Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Director Aishvarya Singh.
