Minister Domna Michailidou visits Kilkis to inspect social care facilities

Domna Michailidou, the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family, conducted a visit to Kilkis to inspect social care facilities and discuss regional development. A primary focus of the visit was the completion and opening of the new Kilkis Nursing Home and Chronic Disease Treatment Center. The facility, which had remained unfinished for years, now features 50 beds and is currently hosting 40 elderly residents. The equipment for this new structure was supported by a €690,000 donation from the Union of Greek Shipowners.

During her tour, the Minister also visited social support centers for persons with disabilities, including the ‘Vimatizontas’ Day Care Center. She highlighted various social programs in the region, noting that 200 families have secured housing through social programs, 15 individuals with disabilities have personal assistants, and 2,000 children are enrolled in school meal programs.

Additionally, the Minister announced an expansion of the Resettlement Program in Kilkis. This initiative provides €10,000 in financial assistance to individuals and families who choose to settle permanently in the area, with €5,000 of that amount being paid as an advance.
