Minister Fretti faces backlash in Uruguay as Durango launches theater showcase
During the official ceremony for Expo Prado 2026 in Uruguay, Minister of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries Alfredo Fretti faced booing and whistling from the audience. Additionally, some producers in the ring turned their backs to him while he spoke. While some observers attributed the reaction to the length of his 50-minute speech and the heat, others suggested the discontent stemmed from disagreements with his agricultural policies.
In Mexico, the Durango State Theater Showcase (MET) 2026 was inaugurated in Canatlán by the group Colectiva Transeúnte. The performance, titled ‘¡Papá, mamá! ¿Qué es ser niñx?’, explored themes of childhood and gender through dance and theater. This event marks the return of the MET after a seven-year hiatus, with eight free performances scheduled across six municipalities in Durango.
