Minister Gerald Campos Launches Probe into Police Corruption

Public Security Minister Gerald Campos addressed a confidential report from the Directorate of Intelligence and Criminal Analysis (DIAC) that identified 122 police officers potentially linked to organized‑crime structures. He announced that more than 38 corruption cases are currently active within the ministry and that the government had been unaware of the findings until the report was presented. Campos ordered an immediate investigation, which has been forwarded to the Public Ministry despite earlier inaction by senior officials. He also said he has contacted former Vice Minister Erick Lacayo for explanations and is awaiting a response.

The minister emphasized the seriousness of the issue, noting threats to investigators and the need to build solid evidence before presenting the case publicly.
