Minister Şimşek highlights Turkey's strategic role at Verona Eurasia Economic Forum

At the 19th Verona Eurasia Economic Forum in Istanbul, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek emphasized Turkey's strategic position within global trade and logistics networks. Speaking at the event, which was supported by MÜSİAD and Ibn Haldun University, Şimşek noted that Turkey serves as a vital link between major hubs, such as the connection between Beijing and London.

Şimşek highlighted that global supply shocks present opportunities for Turkey to invest in connectivity. He pointed to Turkish Airlines' extensive global reach as an example of this connectivity. To support industrial growth, the Minister announced that advance loans for investments in medium-high and high-technology sectors are being offered at rates approximately one-third of market interest rates.

Addressing global economic trends, Şimşek noted that while global trade faces challenges from protectionism and fragmentation, Turkey aims to respond by developing relationships within a rules-based trade framework. He also identified significant growth potential in the service sector, particularly in tourism and the rapidly expanding health tourism industry.
